I am an artist, a dancer first and foremost. I dance to connect with my desires and dreams, to build a loving relationship with my insecurities, to speak with spirits, and to let them speak through me. I live for the sensual delight within creative practice: dancing, singing, gardening, foraging, cooking, feasting, and mothering. I believe that living in rhythm with the seasons is truly the way to cultivate beauty, joy, and freedom; to connect with our deep ancestral roots and grow new fruits in this present time. I'm also an herbalist and health practitioner, a different kind of creative endeavor that I refer to as Magical Realism, because it is both practical and mysterious. My approach mixes the medicine practices of my Latvian and Italian heritage with the brilliance of Ayurveda, along with somatic explorations. I bring my artistry as a performer to this work through my deep knowledge of functional anatomy and somatic inquiry, as well as my inherited ancestral understanding of food and friendship as medicine. I honor my teachers - who have taught be about collaboration, listening, conjuring, sharing, and curiosity as a supreme expression of love, namely: my Nonna and Oma, my mother Brigita and father John, my son Ray, Storm Thomas, Jules Beckman, Robin Rose Bennett, Greg Bullen, Sean Dill, Ford Evans, Clyde Hall and the Naraya, Keith Hennessy, Dr. Vasant Lad and the teachers at The Ayurvedic Institute, Tedman Littwin, Dr. Naina Marballi, Raúl Ortega, Sara Rudner, Nélida Tirado, and Jennifer Whitcomb. Thank you.
